Ethics and Accreditation

Accreditation Canada asks a series of questions about ethics programmes, services and frameworks in its accreditation process. Accreditation Canada expects organizations to have a framework for supporting ethical practice and expects organizations, including their senior leadership teams and boards to be able to demonstrate the use of their frameworks.

Robert Butcher developed the original Accreditation Canada (then the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation — CCHSA) ethics education programme in the early 2000s. On the introduction of the Qmentum programme Robert developed the Healthethics Framework for Supporting Ethical Practice  This is a comprehensive guide to developing and sustaining an ethics programme for health care organizations. The Healthethics Framework forms the basis of Accreditation Canada’s ethics education workshops which Robert delivers several times per year across the country. Robert has also customized this workshop for delivery to International clients.
